One thing that delights me about the Philippines is it’s dedication to repurposing, recycling and reusing everything. Filipinos are the most industrious people I have met when it comes to knocking something useful together at a pinch and for a penny. I only had to walk out my front door to grab a few snaps of the neighbourhood (including the school) re-purposing.

And while it sounds very nice to be delighted about dedicated recycling, it is also worth mentioning that almost 27 million Filipinos live on less than USD$235 per month and this level of poverty no doubt contributed to the photos below.

  1. Those “daings” are so delectable with “bagoong” and “kamatis.” I’m finding the nearest carinderia serving them right now..

    1. Haha Estancia is famous for its “daing”. I hated it when I first came to the Philippines but my adopted son loves it so much so I cook it quite a lot. I’m starting to like it now too. 🙂

      1. I didnt find one tonight like I said. Instead I found myself inside Jollibee. Oh how miserable life is

      2. Oh dear! Jollibee eek, I hope it wasn’t the burger, gravy and rice one, I just can’t eat that hahaha.
