for weeks our sun
lay hidden, inside
rain and obscurity

fragmented and forgotten
she lunged piercing
tree leaves penetrating

mountain tips and cutting
cutting fine each
new stem of rice

banana leaf torn
and palm trees
shred like ribbons

above the cane
inflorescence and tassel
all we had forgotten

to now simmer
in a broken mirror
(brown water)

and reflect her
her hot face
back unto herself
