The Beat of the Drums

In the distance
the drums
continued to beat.

tribal art1 — Wandering the streets of Iloilo City during Dinagyang Festival — a celebration of tribal culture, art, and dance — while the drums beat far into the distance. I found the phrase (poem above) at the end of Chapter Five of ‘Things Fall Apart‘ by Chinua Achebe.
