Description
Mr McGregor’s Garden cross stitch pattern is a replica of Beatrix Potter’s drawing of Peter Rabbit squeezing into Mr McGregor’s vegetable patch. And in his blue coat with brass buttons!
The original drawing was featured in Miss Potter’s famous book of PR’s antics, stealing vegetables from the same gardener that put his father into a pie. I’ve been reading it for about 50 years now and it still makes me laugh.
The Project
This is a (mostly) full coverage cross stitch but I’ve cut away the edges so the finished piece looks more like the original book illustration. You’ll be stitching the naughty Peter Rabbit disobeying his mother using 48 DMC colours, gorgeous muted pastels.
The finished cross stitch measures 26.5cm x 28.7cm when stitched on 14 count Aida cloth, but you’ll only be completing 15,499 stitches. The pattern works perfectly with Pattern Keeper App and there are NO backstitches.
Keen to see the finished project? Check the gallery of images. One of my dear customers from Europe sent me a photograph of the finished cross stitch after she had it framed. It looks wonderful.
Matching Charts
Mr McGregor’s Garden cross stitch is the third chart in a set of four. You’ll find more of Peter’s adventures, as well projects that include his sisters Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail in our Peter Rabbit Series. They look great in painted wood frames and make a beautiful wall feature.
More Beatrix Potter?
If you love Beatrix Potter as much as I do, there are plenty more of her illustrations in the shop. It’s so much fun charting the designs and revisiting the storybooks I adored in my childhood.
