Description
Radishes and French Beans cross stitch pattern is a replica of Beatrix Potter’s famous painting from her storybooks. Peter Rabbit is tucking into the produce from Mr McGregor’s vegetable patch and looks like he’s having a lovely old time. Even the robin seems happy about it.
In the words of Miss Potter:
FIRST he ate some lettuces and some French beans; and then he ate some radishes;
AND then, feeling rather sick, he went to look for some parsley.
Not long after that, he loses all his clothes.
The Project
This is a (mostly) full coverage cross stitch and you’ll be stitching the mischievous Peter gobbling down Mr McGregor’s radishes alongside a little red songbird. Beatrix Potter’s muted colour palette is marvelous and translates well to DMC stranded cotton.
The finished piece measures 26.1 x 30.5cm (144 x 168 grid size) when stitched on 14 count Aida cloth, and you’ll be completing 15,499 stitches. The pattern works perfectly with Pattern Keeper App and there are NO backstitches.
Matching Charts
Radishes and French Beans cross stitch is the last in a set of four. You’ll find more of Peter’s playful adventures as well as Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail in the Peter Rabbit Series. You could displayed the finished pieces on a feature wall in your home, shop, or studio.
More Beatrix Potter?
I simply adored Beatrix Potter growing up and have been having a great time charting her funny animal characters. Who are your favourites? I grew up with Timmy Tiptoes, the Flopsy Bunnies, and the two bad mice (Tom Thumb and Hunca Munca). My little sister was very much into Squirrel Nutkin and I can still here her little voice singing down the hall “Squirrel Nutkin has a coat of brown, quite the loveliest in woodland town, two bright eyes look out ….”. Memories.
