VET Training Courses

Many RTOs and start-ups don’t have the skills in-house to develop their own student manuals, handouts, mapped assessments, and teacher resources.

Writing a nationally recognised qualification that complies with the ASQA framework is a very complex process and involves:

• Downloading the correct Qualification Details from training.gov.au.
• Deciding what elective units to deliver.
• Carefully reviewing the Unit of Competency Details for each subject, and then creating student manuals and resources that address each of the Elements and Performance Criteria.
• Developing assessments and teacher resources that are mapped to the Assessment Requirements (ie, Performance Evidence, Knowledge Evidence, Assessment Conditions).
• Reviewing and updating the materials as the qualifications are superseded and allocated new codes and delivery criteria.

I spent more than 7.5 years developing training materials and online content for a leading RTO in Queensland. This included a full Certificate III in Hospitality, Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety, and short courses (RSA, RSG, Hygiene for Food Handlers, CLO, Food Safety Supervisor).

For the past 10 years I have been working as an independent technical writer. During this time I have developed content in the:

At the same time, I have written thousands of blogs, course outlines, student guides, and job descriptions about the many occupations and industries included in Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) sector.
