Resume Writing Service

Genuine, Personalised Service With an Experienced Australian Writer

Writing your own resume can feel a bit overwhelming, can’t it? It’s always tricky writing about yourself and there’s that nagging worry about what to include, what to leave out, and whether it’ll actually stand out among dozens of qualified applicants..

Having spent years as a HR manager in Australia’s hospitality industry, I’ve had thousands of resumes come across my desk. And I’ve noticed something important. The resumes that stand out aren’t always the flashiest — they’re the ones that genuinely capture someone’s professional story in a clear, compelling way.

A resume is more than just career dates and job titles — it’s your personal story. Done well, it opens doors to the opportunities you’ve dreamed about your whole life.

💡PROFESSIONAL INSIGHTS. Always tailor your resume for the role you are applying for. The job market in Australia is increasingly competitive and a generic, industry-based resume is no longer enough. Recruiters really notice when you’ve made an effort to address the requirements of the advertisement or application pack.

Working With Me

I’m a real person, and working together is fun.

When you book my resume writing service, we start with a friendly questionnaire that helps me understand you better. This isn’t one of those tedious forms – it’s designed to get us thinking about your career journey, your achievements, and what makes you unique.

Then we have a proper video conversation where we dive into your responses together. This is where the magic happens. As we explore your career history, you might rediscover achievements you’d forgotten about or realise just how valuable your experience really is.

Many of my clients find this process surprisingly enjoyable and very empowering.

How long does it take?

Most of my resume orders are delivered within 3-7 business days from the time you send me your completed questionnaire. Here’s how it works.

After our video consultation I need time to process the information and consider the job advertisement and keywords. I’ll get up, go for a walk, and let everything we talked about settle in my head.

Then I’ll start writing. I create the career summary first and then refine your work experience listings — so they are more strategic and aligned with industry expectations and keywords.

Once I have a working document, I’ll send it over for you to review. Read it carefully and come back to me with any questions or concerns. Nearly all of my writing assignments are approved within 1-2 exchanges and I take great pride in ensuring that you are 100% satisfied with your new resume.

🚨PLEASE NOTE: I don’t do rush orders. This is simply because I know that a quality resume takes time and the best writing always emerges during the editing and review process.

April Austin Testimonial

Cheers Mel. Great job!!.

I can’t recommend Mel enough, she provided me with an excellent, A1, professional resume. She took my information and turned it into a masterpiece.

I had a traditional type resume that landed so often on the ‘Thank you for your application, unfortunately you were not successful this time’ pile. But Mel took the time to explore my strengths and investigate talents I hadn’t given much thought to previously.

She took my pre-existing information, changed the format, enhanced the text. Fine-tuned the presentation to a more reader friendly, informative product that ticked all the boxes. Within a fortnight of Mel delivering my final product I gained an interview and full-time employment.

What makes a great resume?

A great resume gets you noticed and lands interviews. Here’s what every successful resume should include:

Clear, Professional Language: use simple business English—concise, polished, and easy to read.
Clean Formatting: stick to simple fonts like Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman for easy readability.
Error-Free Content: double-check for typos, grammar mistakes, and formatting issues.
ATS Optimisation: use relevant keywords and a scannable layout to ensure your resume passes Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
Proper File Format: save your resume as a PDF or Word document for compatibility.
Manageable File Size: keep your file under 2–3 MB—smaller files upload faster and are easier to share.

What does ‘optimised’ and ‘scannable’ mean?

A scannable resume is recognised by Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and is optimised for your industry and most desired job roles. It uses targeted keywords and phrases to help your resume make it past the initial screening process.

Will my resume and cover letter be ATS friendly?

Yes. My resumes and cover letters are ATS friendly because I use standard formatting and keywords that align with your industry and desired job roles.

What is Applicant Tracking Software (ATS)?

Many large firms and recruitment agencies use Applicant Tracking Software (ATS) to shortlist the resumes of job applicants. ATS recognises targeted keywords and phrases and if your resume cannot be scanned by the agency software you may never make it to the interview list — even if you are the most qualified applicant.

What’s the difference between a Resume and a CV?

A resume is a short document (1-2 pages only) which presents your career highlights.  It is usually tailored to the suit the requirements of the job you are applying for. Resumes are usually changed for each job application so your skills match the selection criteria.

A CV or curriculum vitae is a complete record of your career history and achievements. It lists everything chronologically and is much longer than a resume, sometimes 10 pages (ore more). The base of your CV doesn’t change, you just add new awards, publications, research, and achievements as they occur.

Job advertisements will usually state whether the recruiter wants to see a  resume or CV.

Should I get a resume or a CV?

In Australia, most recruiters expect a professional resume that is no more than 2 x A4 pages.

CVs are more suited to academics and high-end professionals who have published research papers and/or are distinguished in their field.
