Smoking Skeleton Cross Stitch Pattern

Description

Smoking Skeleton Cross Stitch Pattern was inspired by a painting found among Van Gogh’s personal affects after he died. The original painting, Head of a Skeleton with a Burning Cigarette, was painted while he was a student at the art academy in Antwerp around 1886.

The Project

This is a cutaway cross stitch, so you won’t need to stitch the background if you use black Aida cloth. The actual stitched area measures 35.4cm x 42.1 cm (14-count fabric) and you’ll complete 27,321 stitches, including the burning cigarette, ash, and smoke scattering into the atmosphere. It’s quite fun.

PS: check your download pack for the extra chart that has been specially formatted for Pattern Keeper App. Stitching on black Aida can be tricky and PK will make Smoking Skeleton cross stitch much easier.

The Artist

Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch Post-impressionist painter who might just be the world’s most famous artist. His work is defined by bright colours and thick, expressive brush strokes.
