The Last Supper Cross Stitch Pattern

The Last Supper cross stitch pattern is a replica of the famous mural by Leonardo da Vinci, originally painted between 1495 and 1498. Despite WWII bombings and the passage of more than 600 years, the mural still stands in the refractory of the Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan. Amazing really.

The Project

Now I’m not going to kid you, this is a great big cross stitch. It’s a full coverage piece that measures 101.6cm x 50.8cm when stitched on 14-count Aida cloth. You’ll need 239 different DMC thread colours and a whole world of patience because the project has 156,800 cross stitches. That said, I’ve included an extra chart in your download pack that works perfectly with the Pattern Keeper App. I do recommend using PK to manage this challenging project.

Now onto the good stuff. I think you’ll love stitching the gorgeous colours and fine detail that bring to life the facial expressions of Christ and his disciples, the simple meal of bread and wine, and the background window scene and wall decorations. When it’s finished you’ll have an incredible piece of art to hang in your home, office, or studio.

It’s sure to be a talking point among your family and friends for many years to come.

The Artist

Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian painter and polymath who was also an accomplished engineer, scientist, architect and sculptor. He lived from 1452 to 1519 but had an imagination and curious mind that was well ahead of his years. Keep calling back to the store as I add more Leonardo cross stitch replicas.
